What are sealants?
A dental sealant is a plastic material that is applied to the chewing surface
of a tooth; it acts as a barrier, protecting enamel by sealing out plaque
and food. The teeth are cleaned and prepared and the sealant bonded
on the tooth enamel which then hardens on the tooth. Sealants are
usually clear or white and not visible when you talk or smile. They
can help prevent decay and help save money in the future on restorative
procedures.
