Implants, Crowns & Bridges
Missing teeth detract from your smile, your chewing ability and your dental health. Bridges to replace missing teeth have been our mainstay for many years; these consist of dental crowns on the supporting teeth (abutments) and a false tooth (pontic) to fill the missing tooth space(s). Cemented in place, a bridge replaces missing esthetics and function. In the last two decades, implants to replace missing teeth have been a wonder for those in need of tooth replacement. A titanium tooth-form cylinder is placed in the jawbone in a simple quick procedure. The implants fuse to the bone (osseointegrates) where it strengthens and stabilizes. It is then used as a support for an abutment (sub-structure) and crown, without involving unnecessary treatment on adjacent teeth. While more costly, implants are often the most ideal treatment to replace and restore teeth. They may also be used to support dentures and extensive full mouth rehabilitation (tooth replacement).
